Not technically a junior story but no where else relveant to stick it for Port fans to view. Cowdenbeath are in talks with East of Scotland League club Spartans about a merger that would kill off the Second Division side and Spartans would enter the Scottish Football League. Further reports by the Scotsman is that Gordon Brown who's parliamentary constituency is Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, has offered his support to Cowdenbeath's problems - his father watched Cowdenbeath as a boy in the 1920s. Also Dunfermline Athletic will discuss groundsharing.
The main problem is that the Central Park pitch does not meet SFA minimum dimensions which Cowdenbeath have been fined for and will continue to be fined. The pitch can't be enlarged without encroaching on the stock car circuit around its perimeter, which is a bigger source of revenue than the football operation.
